The tranquil clan pt3
As they prepared to leave the tranquil's clan territory, a wave of uncertainty clawed at the mind of the four reos. "What if we fail?" Mer muttered, pacing in agitation. "How can we prepare to meet the Monarch when we don't have an idea of what she's like?"
Jeon-e tilted her head thoughtfully, laying down on the grass. The flowers had closed, making it evident that it was either evening or late at night if their cycle was the same as above ground. "Mer, fretting won’t help us. We need clarity, not panic."
Cailu, their haedian companion, let slip something. "You know, the tranquil are rumored to be able to calm the spirits of anyone who meditates with them."
Valentine hummed. "You're saying we should find Pyrri and ask her to meditate with us, and to reassure us everything will be alright."
Cailu nodded, and soon the four of them were looking around the various tunnels, their paws light so to not disturbe who's sleeping, in search of Pyrri.
They smelt the calm scent she emanated from a tunnel and followed it until they found her, sat in a spacious chamber adorned with jagged amethyst and aquamarine crystals, their soft luminescence casting gentle hues across her fur. Her eyes were closed, and her breathing was slow, measured. Around her, a faint aura shimmered, as though a field of energy was permeating from her deep meditative state.
The four reos approached hesitantly, careful to not spook her. Pyrri opened her eyes, her magenta eyes glowing faintly in the semi-darkness. Without moving, she acknowledged them with a subtle tilt of her head.
"What can i help you with" she inquired, her voice calm and melodic, carrying an otherworldly resonance.
Jeon-e stepped closer, so to not raise her voice. "We are traveling in order to meet the Monarch, but we fear we are unprepared. The thought of not understanding… of failing in such a moment… it’s overwhelming."
Valentine nodded, his ears flattening against his skull. "We’ve traveled far and faced much together, but this is unlike anything we’ve encountered. We're vayrons, the thought of being shunned because we're not haedians is overwhelming. How can we approach the Monarch and let her know our intentions are pure?"
Pyrri regarded them silently for a moment, her gaze piercing yet kind. "Your fear of the unknown is not unjustified, but fear clouds the mind and constricts the spirit. Sit with me, and I will show you the truth that already resides within you."
The reos exchanged a glance at each other and then sat down, forming a loose circle around Pyrri. They lowered themselves to the cool stone floor, their bodies tense with anticipation, and closed their eyes. Pyrri also closed her eyes and the faint aura around her intensified, prickling at the fur of the reos.
"Breathe deeply," she instructed. "Feel the earth beneath you, the air within you. Let your thoughts flow like wind through the caves, unbound and unjudged."
As the reos followed her guidance, an unusually charged air settled over the chamber. The gems seemed to pulse faintly, their light synchronized with Pyrri’s breathing. Then, without warning, a cascade of vivid images flooded their minds.
Cailu did not need the reassurance that he would be accepted, for which he already knew the Monarch, but the images of being bathed in her affection and the thought of his clan were thoughts that warmed him from within, comforted him in his time of distance from the clan, and he felt at ease remembering he had a place where he belonged.
Jeon-e saw herself in a room where all the walls were crystals, her reflection mirrored endlessly in the surrounding gems. She spoke, and her voice rang with confidence and purpose. Haedians she had never seen before listened to her, their expression interested and respectful, and she felt at ease with this vision giving her a positive memory to carry, of good relationships being instaurated with the Monarch's clan.
Mer’s vision was of a vast, open cavern where he was running side by side with haedians, all young and all full of energy, matching his carefree personality. He had a vague understanding that these haedians were related to the Monarch, and that he was allowed to stay with them, because the Monarch had given them their blessing and did not consider them dangerous. That was more than enough.
Valentine’s heart was harder to convince, his doubtful mind giving him images of self doubt, of not being enough, not being respectful enough and not having enough experiences to bond with the haedians with. For him, his visions shifted to the quiet understanding that nobody has all the answers, and that he could bond with haedians and the Monarch by being himself, responsible and reliable as he was.
The visions faded, leaving the reos with a lingering sense of warmth and peace. They opened their eyes to find Pyrri watching them, her expression serene.
"What you saw," she said softly, "is not prophecy, but possibility. The Monarch does not require perfection, only authenticity. Trust in your unique strengths, and the rest will follow."
Jeon-e smiled thankful. "Thank you, Pyrri, for being so willing to help us."
Mer smiled. "I hope my vision becomes reality, it would be a nice way of ending this journey."
Valentine was quieter, but Pyrri already noticed how he was dripping gratitude, so she nodded to him to signal that she understood.
The reos rose to their feet, their spirits renewed. As they left Pyrri’s chamber to go rest for the night, the path ahead no longer seemed as daunting as it was before.
