Not the Place to Pick a Fight
The Order: Part 3

Azravan wasn’t in a hurry. He observed the members of the Order clan cheering and chanting Shira’s name, as she was standing on the opposite end of the arena in her astonishing battle armor. The crazed Haedian’s eyes burned with bloodlust as she was always looking forward to having a good fight, while Azravan was slightly insulted that he had to battle someone to prove his allegiance to his God. As Azravan stalled the start, his scrawny servant Vazghar made his leave from the arena, slipping in the spectators area where he found Eshin and Ruga, whose fates also depended on the outcome of this brawl. Vazghar squeezed himself between them, gave them a sly sheepish smile before the trio’s attention shifted back to the knight representing their interests.

Shira raised her hand and this gesture made the crowd quiet down. She then growled excitedly as she picked up her spiked weapon, expecting Azravan to do the same. The big Puller closed his eyes for a moment, then lowered his head to get his sword, sinking his huge teeth into the soft handle. Given the sword’s size compared to him, it was somewhat impressive he could wield it with ease. He adjusted the weapon, then stood completely still before he opened his eyes, which were now glimmering with the unhidden determination to show Shira her place no matter what.

Shira roared as she lunged towards Azravan, letting the bloodlust take control of her. The crowd went wild the moment Shira initiated the show, and our three topsiders were nearly deafened by the noise the Order was capable of making. Azravan took the first impact, blocking Shira’s spiked flail just to get the feel of Shira’s strength and study her movements. He was forced to take a few steps back, which only encouraged Shira to keep going at him. Vazghar, Ruga and Eshin felt the anxiety returning as Shira seemed to overpower Azravan right from the start, even though Vazghar was familiar with his master’s tactics.

“You can do it, Azravan!”

The little Chaser had a surprisingly loud voice, and thanks to the action taking place on their corner of the arena Azravan could hear it, which simply annoyed him even further. He needed no cheering or support, but he couldn’t snap at Ruga for it as he was busy fending off Shira.

“Az-ra-van! Az-ra-van! Az-ra-van!!!”

Eshin started the chanting, to which Vazghar and Ruga joined with. Needless to say this simply pissed Azravan off, and not bothering to hide his anger he decided to release it on Shira, starting an active offense on her. This is what Shira was waiting for - to see what Azravan was really made of. She backed down with an elegant dance, dodging or blocking Azravan’s sword as it cut through the air. Even though Azravan couldn’t hear them anymore, the three continued chanting his name, to which the surrounding Haedians growled, jeered or threw angry looks at them. Vazghar was probably the only one who noticed the surrounding spectators judging them as Ruga and Eshin were completely engulfed by their chanting, hoping to motivate Azravan by showing him such support. Little did they know what Azravan really thought of it, but they did see it working.

Shira kept dodging Azravan’s attacks, having a sinister grin plastered on her face to mock the Puller for being so slow. Azravan didn’t let that anger him even further as he still needed to have some part of clear consciousness keeping his head in the game and not just plain animalistic instincts. He observed Shira’s movements, and soon enough, saw the opportunity to strike. He swung his sword as a decoy, then used the momentum to turn his back to Shira and utilizing the metal claw extension on his extra toe on the hind limb, he cut into the inner side of Shira’s arm, making her shout from the pain and surprise before Azravan brought his sword around again and slammed it into distracted Shira.

The crowd gasped in unison and the cheering toned down. Azravan didn’t stop, he kept using the advantage he gained and kept hacking away at Shira, decorating her already battered armor with even more cuts and dents.

“Well done, master! Keep it going!”

Vazghar’s encouraging cheer could be heard to the other end of the battlefield, before the rest of the crowd grew ridiculously noisy again, this time cheering Shira not for fun but with the slight lingering fear that she actually might be defeated. Shira noticed the slight annoyance appearing on Azravan’s face, which seemed to amuse her before she got her head back in the game, delivering a painful blow to Azravan as he had come too close. Unfortunately for her, the headstrong Puller was immune to pain as he continued the brutal dance with Shira at his previous pace.

One of the Order’s Haedians grabbed Eshin by the neck, snarling at him how Azravan won’t be victorious. Eshin wasn’t afraid of them anymore, so he headbutted the rude guy, making him release the Empyrian so he could go back to cheering Azravan’s name. Vazghar and Ruga stopped for a moment to witness how Eshin wasn’t made of cotton and how he could stand for himself just fine. Eshin’s high spirits infected Ruga and Vazghar as they enthusiastically kept cheering on, even though Azravan seemed to have overpowered Shira by now and was simply awaiting for her to surrender. Shira refused to accept the defeat, so she pushed further but that only earned her more pain, as Azravan didn’t allow her to stand up anymore. The Haedians were jeering and sounded rather desperate to convince Shira to get up and finish the filthy outsider while the trio of topsiders was about to burst from the adrenaline rushing through their veins.

Finally, Shira gave up. She remained lying on the ground, a piece of one of her magnificent antlers broken off, bleeding, panting and grimacing towards Azravan standing in front of her. He kept his sinister gaze locked with Shira’s, and seeing the flame of rage fade out in her eyes, he and his cheerleading trio knew he had won.
