Order - Prompt 2
B: "Blind follower of light! Your ignorance casts shadows on the sacred path, and your refusal to embrace the true path brands you a fool, condemned to wander in the darkness of your own disbelief." The Elders’ outburst pinned Jackie’s ears back briefly, but they quickly perked up with her steeled gaze at the confrontation.
“Don’t tempt me,” Jackie cocked her head at the Elders’ brustled faces. She couldn’t turn heel and run back to the Keepers, and she’d much rather push through what came ahead with the aid of magic. Shira sneered down at the two Vayrons, a menacing grin filled with malicious glee. From the look on her face and the strength of her, Jackie would throw a wild guess that fighting was her favorite pastime.
“Hope you’re better at defending yourself than you are at lying.” She jabbed at Somos at her side, a grin mixed with adrenaline and amusement fleeting across her lips. Huffing through her nose, Jackie gathered shadows around her feet discreetly. They deepened her own into a colorless pit she could sink into if need arose. Which it likely would soon.
F: “At least one of us is confident,” Somos growled.
He anchored himself to the floor as Shira approached. She was probably the biggest haedian he’d seen thus far. The bulky armour that clattered with every step and horns that curled over her head only seemed to double her size. Suddenly, the beautifully crafted divine armour felt like paper on his back. Any other day, Somos would simply walk away. This was not the kind of fight where he could come out with a few bruises and a strained ankle, but he was blocked from all sides. The elders gathered behind them, cutting off the route they came in through, chanting Shira’s name and something else in a language he had never heard before. More haedians crawled out of the shadows, evidenced by a hundred eyes glinting in the dark.
“Alright, talk fast. How are you gonna play this?”
B: “And spoil the surprise?” Jackie shot back, but huffed at Shira’s approach. The runner had her specially crafted gear that kept her safe throughout her journey, and Somos wasn’t naked either with his armor, but the Haedian was wearing something new even Jackie hadn’t seen before. As a genuine form of armor that is, she’d seen some rich fools dressing in crystal or glass attire but this was armor, powerful armor. She’d have to penetrate that to get to the skin beneath which was likely tougher than nails to boot.
“I have magic, use what you’ve got. Just get her down and don’t get bit. Doubt she’s stopping at just a few puncture wounds.” She spoke like it was an obvious plan, simple and straightforward. She didn’t intend to fight her, she wanted to run past and get to her goal deeper in, but whether Somos was quick enough she didn’t know. And leaving him behind wasn’t a keen idea as much as Jackie liked self-preservation.
Shira was enjoying the two runners’ uncertainty, but it also irritated the Haedian. “Cowards,” she sneered. “Get on with it. Surrendering is not an option.” Threatening tone rumbled up her throat as she bared her teeth.
“I didn’t think it was,” Jackie pinned her ears back, and lunched. In a whisk of shadow, she disappeared and reappeared beneath Shira, but the Haedian seemed prepared for anything, leaping to the side away from Jackie’s teeth. Her jaws snapped air and the runner growled. With a whisk of her tail, shadow took over half her form in preparation of her second attack. Her ear was focused on Somos and whatever action he would take. She can use the distraction to go for the Haedian again.
F: Somos didn’t have time for disbelief, to tell her that that wasn’t a plan at all or even that he had no magic to battle with! Jackie had already started the fight, reappearing behind Shira for an attack she was ready for. Shadow magic and teleportation? This was going to be a very fast paced fight. Something he was becoming very accustomed to.
Somos charged at Shira’s back end. The haedian didn’t even glance at his direction. She swept her tail towards him. He easily leapt over it and tried to turn around to face her but the armor hindered his spin. Shira’s tail swept back over and he was forced to take the hit to the chest. The blow didn’t hurt, in fact he barely felt it but it did knock him to the ground.
B: Jackie took Somos’ approach as her cue to strike again, but the harbinger was batting the two vayrons away like flies. Somos took a physical approach, making Jackie wonder on his intent. No weapon? Magic? Jackie will make do if not. Or she will try in the least. Her hackles bristled under her tack as she braced another clash with Shira, sinking into the shadows just as the Haedian’s teeth closed in her place. With a dark woosh she appeared above Shira, using her weight to her advantage to throw the harbinger off balance. She hoped Somos would take the opportunity given. It’ll be a tough fight for the both of them, and Jackie wasn’t exactly the best team player.
Draw or write your Reosean's reaction as Shira, the leader of the Order, descends upon you. She's massive, and somehow even angrier looking than the elder you just faced. Do you launch right into battle? Perhaps you will try to hide?
