In the dark and mysterious forest of Warrenfall, where the trees grew tall, and the shadows played tricks on the eyes of creatures who were new to the terrain, the cold air blew past as we settled upon two small but beautiful fluffy pups who were starting to learn the world around them they were completely new to these type of things and considering that they were children all they wanted to do was explore their surroundings. There was the first sister, Emmi, Emmi was a tiny pup, and she had pretty green fur resembling an avocado. Her fur was so sleek and clean, even in the dim light that filtered through the trees, it seemed like it was glowing. Her ears twitched with curiosity and excitement and perked up as if she could hear everything. Her eyes were pupils, but even so, you could still see the shine in them; some might say it was a frightening light. Other pups who encountered her seemed to be always intimidated by her, and the snake-like creature coiled around her shoulder, its forked tongue flickering as if it was trying to get in her head. Even though she was a child, it was like it had a hold on her. The snake had been there as long as she could remember. Every time she grew, it grew.

Then there was the second sister, Ayelet. Ayelet was strikingly different from her sister Emmi's darker appearance. She was just as small and pretty, but her fur was a soft blend of brown hues, with parts of bubbly wavy green scattered throughout it. It made Ayelet look like she was a walking potion or a witch. Her eyes were wide with wonder as she gazed at the vast world around her, so big, and yet her little paws could touch just about everything. She has a little pair of delicate horns, barely more than nubs at this age. They peeked out from her head like they were freshly sprouting, adding to her sweet little witchy vibe. Sadly, she and her sister share something that brings them together: the stories and rumors people make up about them. Ayelet is a sweet pup, and she tries her best to show that, but others who've seen her or have gotten a glimpse of her call her the witch who lurks or the witch with the stick as horns. Despite the stories and false rumors that are being told, Ayelet has no clue about what's being said about her and decides to live her life with nothing but innocence and curiosity in her heart.

"Emmi! Look at that tree, do you see it!" Ayelet called out excitedly to her sister, her little horns glinting from the sun as she bounded over to a patch of strange-looking mushrooms growing at the base of an old tree.

She got so excited over the most minor things, but with such a big imagination, she didn't care how big or small things were; anything could be intriguing to her. "They're so weird, Emmi! Do you think they're magic? Is that even possible?!" Ayelet shouted out joyfully, her questions and fantasies getting the best of her.

Emmi stared at something in the distance that caught her attention for some reason, her unsettling eyes fixated on whatever it was. She turned her head to look at her sister. The snake on her shoulder hissed softly, almost as if it was talking to or guiding her in response to Ayelet's question.

"They're just mushrooms, Ayelet; I dont get why you're so in love with them," Emmi said, her voice calm but with a hard, blunt edge that made her sound older than her pup appearance. She sounded almost different in a way.

Emmi shook her head, throwing out the snake's words, thinking of her sister's feelings instead. She attempted to save Ayelet's feelings before she hurt them: "But... maybe. Listen, we could take some on our adventure. They might be useful to us, and we never know what they could be used for, right?"

Ayelet's eyes brightened up like stars. She nodded so fast that it was like her head could explode. "Yes, really?! Maybe we can use them to make a potion! Or possibly we could... No! Better idea, maybe they'll help us talk to the trees! I read a book somewhere. I can't think of the book, but it said witches can talk to trees; that's pretty cool. The last thing that comes to mind is- AH FOOD! I'm not sure if they're edible, though.." Ayelet's little paws danced around in excitement.

Emmi's lips slowly and oddly turned into a small smile; it didn't look like she was smiling over her sister's little celebration. No… There was something almost sinister about it; you could say that she had no control over what was going on with her face. "Witches can do lots of things, things we never even heard of before," her voice not even close to being as loud as a whisper before Emmi knew it; she was back in control; she tried to deny the words she was told to say her paws digging into the dirt like she was trying to forget what she just said causing her to lash out her blood to boiling in aggravation and confusion. "WE ARE NOT WITCHES WE AREN'T WEIRD!.., W-WAIT no! Aughh... Ayelet, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to yell or I guess I wasn't yelling at you at least. We're just... different." Emmi rests her head against Ayelet's.

"It's ok, Emmi! Different is good!" Ayelet blurted out, trying to cheer up her sister, her voice full of pureness and love but slightly shaken. She slowly picked the little mushrooms and quietly distanced herself from her sister as she admired the mushrooms and the view around them. She grabbed a handful of the mushrooms and placed them in a small pouch she had made from leaves and sticks she collected while walking in the forest with Emmi. "I like being different. It makes us special… it makes us who we are.."

Emmi watched her sister for a moment, her expression unreadable. She didn't know what to say or do. Her sister was almost done picking the mushrooms; they were just kids who didn't know how to communicate their feelings correctly. The snake on her shoulder hissed again like it was giving her something to say or anything to say, and Emmi nodded slightly as if she agreed with it. "Special, yes, special things, different things," she murmured. "But we have to be careful. Not everyone likes 'special' things. Being careful is key."

Ayelet paused, her paws frozen on a tree she was observing; she turned to look up at her sister with wide eyes. What are you talking about, Emmi? You're being strange. "What do you mean? Everyone likes special things, don't they? What a strange thing to say, sis. Ha Ha.." Ayelets paws drag down the tree, the awkward laugh getting lost in the waves of the mist

Emmi didn't answer immediately; she was quiet, almost like she'd been silenced. She glanced around the forest, her ears twitching as if she were listening to something. It's like she didn't even hear Ayelet's words. "Not everyone," she said after a long silence, with birds flying overhead and little critters running along the forest ground. "Some creatures or other Vays like us; no, there are no others like us... Some creatures fear what they don't understand; they might not see what we see and what we know, and they might not share our goals or interests. They might not like us... because we're different." It was weird that Emmi seemed completely possessed; no child could speak such words. It was honestly frightening.

Ayelet frowned, her small horns drooping like they had lost their spark. It was like her whole day got turned upside down. Ayelet was a bit scared. "That's silly. Why would anyone be afraid of us? What does that mean we didn't do anything to deserve that, did we? We're just pups. Emmi, we didn't do anything wrong, right?. It was like Ayelet was begging for it all to be wrong; she wanted Emmi to take it back for her sister to tell her it would all be ok."

Emmi's gaze got softer just a little as she looked at her sister. "You're right," she said, her voice also softer now. "We're just pups learning the world. But that's why we need to stick together. We have to protect each other. No one else will be there for us but each other."

Ayelet's frown left her face, and A little smile replaced it, taking away the sadness that was once there. "we're always going to protect each other, and I believe we're not witches, and I know there is nothing wrong with us, Emmi. I'll always be there for you. You don't have to worry about anything. I'll never leave you alone to be by yourself. Believe that, sis". Ayelet let her words flow, trying to convince her sister that she would never leave her side. Emmi sat there staring at Ayelet like she was looking into her soul like she could tell if she was lying or telling the truth. "Emmi... You would do the same for me, right?" Even when I have no one else, you'll be there for me, just like I would do for you." Ayelet's smile got even brighter as she awaited her sister's response." Well, obviously I will, Ayelet," Emmi replied, her smile widening and twisting like she was still possessed. It had that weird nasty edge it once did before. "We're sisters, after all. We'll always protect each other."

The two sisters continued their exploration after the events, or you could say the strange conversation that just happened; the sister pair wandered deeper into the forest. Ayelet, as usual, was full of energy like nothing wrong could ever happen, leaping from one exciting thing to another; her excitement was like a never-ending loop. Emmi stayed behind Ayelet at a good pace, letting her do her own thing. Her eyes were always dragged and distracted by the surroundings, and her ears locked on to every sound, almost like a bat, like she was searching for something.

Eventually, they came across a small stream; the water was crystal clear and flowed over smooth stones, a beautiful stream that made you want to relax and take a break. The stream was so lovely that it almost made you want to jump in. Of course, as expected, Ayelet rushed over to it, her little tail wagging as she dipped her paws into the cool water "Woah, so pretty but cold burr…I can see my reflection!".

"Emmi, come feel this, you just gotta! The water's so cold.., but it feels nice! I promise it's not bad," Ayelet said, splashing a little as she played in the stream. She was enjoying herself. Ayelet has such a pure soul that it doesn't seem like there is a single thing bad about her.

Emmi walked up to the stream after hearing her sister's calls, her movements agile and calculated, trying to avoid making a single mistake. She stood at the stream's edge, looking down at her reflection in the water like she was studying it. Her ghostly, pupil less eyes stared back at her. She was trying to understand herself for a second; momentarily, she felt a strange concern. It was fear. Something didn't feel right to her. As she was looking at her reflection. She felt something trying to break free from the inside, and it wanted out. The snake on her shoulder hissed softly; Emmi blinked like she was snapping out of a daydream; the feeling passed so quickly like it didn't even happen.

She dipped one paw into the water. It was freezing cold to her, and the cold sent a slight shiver up her spine. "Yeah, it's nice," she agreed, her voice so distant, her mind far elsewhere. Something was bothering her. It was clear, as the water her paws were dipped in, that she was having a bad day.

Ayelet splashed and pranced in the water, chuckling as she tried to grab the little fish that rushed around her paws. She wasn't hungry; she just wanted to catch it for fun. "We should come here every day, Emmi! It could be really relaxing!" she stated, her voice filled with joy and hope. We can make this our spot somewhere we can keep to ourselves!" Emmi watched her sister with a small smile, but Emmi's eyes remained distant. "Maybe I have to think about it," she said. She wasn't paying attention to what Ayelet was saying; it didn't matter; Emmi was so lost at that moment. Her mind was still racing with her strange feeling when she looked at her reflection. The feeling was messing with her. She didn't know what was going on deep inside. She was lost.

Abruptly, Ayelet froze. Something colorful gleamed in the stream; her eyes were wide as she gazed at something in the water. "Emmi, look! There's something shiny down there! It's bright. I was dancing, and it randomly caught my eye. Emmi.. Emmiiii EMMI!". She called for her dazed sister, who daydreamed like she was out of this world.

Emmi snapped out of her thoughts. She looked around, confused, forgetting that Ayelet was there with her. "Wait, w-what what happened? Did you call me? I didn't hear what you were saying." Emmi sat waiting to get a response from Ayelet. She looked at her loss before looking at where Ayelet was pointing. Sure enough, a small, shiny thing was at the bottom of the stream, partially buried in the sand. It could pass for one of the smooth rocks. "Is that what you called me for, Ayelet?" She asked, actually confused about what her sister needed.

"Yeah, look at this shiny thing I found. What do you think it is?" Ayelet asked, her voice filled with interest as if she wanted to grab it, giving in to her sister's cute curiosity she decided to help her out.

Emmi narrowed her eyes, trying to see what it was, the snake hissing louder as if it was commanding her to investigate the sparkling thing in the water. Emmi jumped from the snake's loud outburst. "Yeah! Ok, ok, um, let's find out. It's probably something valuable, right!" she said, her voice taking on a determined and nervous tone.

She carefully reached into the water, trying not to wash it away; her paws dug deep into the sand to discover the object. It took a few minutes. She fell into the water a couple of times, and Ayelet followed right after, but eventually, they managed to pull it out, holding it up for both of them to see. It was a tiny, silver dirty pendant, tarnished with age. It could pass for an item from the past, but it was still stunning. The surface was engraved with intricate designs as if they were runes or some type of lettering, though they were too broken up and damaged to make out clearly.

"It's so pretty! Can we keep it?" Ayelet exclaimed; her eyes were shining with delight and excitement. "It looks like something a witch or a magic user OR a king or queen would wear! It's so many possibilities."

Emmi stared at the pendant, tuning out her sister and overlooking her sister's question. To her, it already belonged to them; her expression was sharp and somewhat enlightened or curious about what it could be. The snake on her shoulder hissed softly as it whispered to her. Whatever it could have said made Emmi's eyes narrow slightly.

"It's more than just pretty, Ayelet. Look at it," she mumbled, almost to herself. It was like she was the only one there. "I think it's important.. very important, and it's ours, only ours." Ayelet tilted her head in concern; her horns started shining in the light like they were sprouting again. "What do you mean you're confusing me again, kinda lost here? Could you tell me how important that thing we found in the stream is?"

Emmi didn't answer like the other times her sister asked questions. She was so attracted to the pendant. It was like Emmi ignored her sister, She turned the pendant over in her paws like she was trying to figure it out. She was studying it closely. "I don't know yet. Just give me a second," she said finally after a few minutes of silence, leaving Ayelet lost in thought. "But I just know it's meant for us. Why else would we be able to find it like it was calling out for us. For you and me, Ayelet."

Ayelet's eyes sparkled. She couldn't believe what her sister said but accepted it for her sister's sake. "For us? Really? Do you actually think that's true?" Emmi nodded, though her expression remained severe as if she were determined. It was clear she wasn't letting go of that piece of silver. "Yeah, we're going to keep it safe, hold on to it. We can drop it off at the den, or maybe we should hide it somewhere."

Ayelet beamed toward her sister straightly, her tail wagging with excitement. One thing Emmi learned about her sister when they were pups was nothing could take away her sister's happiness forever. After staring at her sister joyfully, she agreed with her sister. "Then it's our treasure, only ours! We'll keep it safe, just like you said. Let's go back to the den. Come on, Emmi, what are you waiting for!" she yells, already far ahead of her sister. Emmi chuckles as she rushes after her sister. Passing by the trees, bits of the sun shining on her fur. "That adventure wasn't so bad," she said, as she was running to catch up with her sister.
