Forgotten Clan: Sisters 2

Cheiro rapidly crawled along the wall and ceiling using her powerful limbs and thick talons to grip the rocky surface. If anyone had seen her they would have compared her to a large spider running in shadow. Kaimana did her best to ignore her elder sister and carry on her way like a ghost. Furor struggled to keep up, but eventually, she found her rhythm and flew relatively silent.

After a few moments, Furor started to laugh, and to add to her confidence her flight didn’t falter. She remained steady in the air, her laughter increased to a manic level. Cheiro slowed and smiled as she watched her youngest sister. Kaimana remained unbothered and disinterested.

With the surge of positive feelings, Furor exclaimed, “We have to do that again!”

She twirled and bounced around in the air. Cheiro replied, “We’ll make our way back to the Forgotten Clan and see if they have other plans or targets.”

Furor squealed before Kaimana growled at her to be quiet.

Silence fell over the sisters as they flew back to the forgotten clan. After a few moments Furor, Kaimana, and Cheiro reached the clan boundary. Troall met them on the ground as Cheiro jumped from the wall and Furor and Kaimana landed in front of the small leader.

“Thank you so much for your help!” Troall exclaimed before continuing under her breath, “It got a little spooky for us, but it worked so can’t complain.”

The sisters shrugged their shoulders at the comment they probably weren’t meant to hear and carried on the conversation. “Is there anything else you’d like help with?” Furor spoke eagerly.

Troall’s bright expression wavered, uncertain she wanted to put her clan's haedians through the terror of these tyrians’ magic. She wasn’t even sure she wanted to experience it again. After a big breath, she decided they could help get ready for the next target. The preparation would give Troall more time to contemplate their involvement in the next heist.

“You guys can help prepare for the next target.” Troall explained and a thought came to her, “We’re going to try a different distraction technique.”

Troall asked them to follow her to an offshoot tunnel. She explained that they stored all their equipment in this space. Cheiro’s eyes adjusted to the lack of light quickly. Furor was blind and used sound to make out the room so she was unfazed. However, it took Kaimana a few moments for her glowing eyes to adjust to the darkness of the space.

“How do you make anything out in this room?” Kaimana scoffed.

Troall pushed her way through the tyrians and vanished around a corner. Kaimana grumbled under her breath while Cheiro and Furor wandered around the space. Cheiro came across jars and bugs, and Furor came across a can that she assumed held dark paint.

When Troall returned she had a few glowing crystals in her possession. She passed them to the unhappy white tyrian and then continued to the other two tyrians.

“You can prepare stick bombs and you’ll need to cover up your white markings to hide better.” Troall explained, “Our stick bombs aren’t as sophisticated as I’m sure you're used to, but put the bugs from the jars into bags.”

Cheiro looked at the pile of bags and the jars again before saying, “Looks easy enough.”

Troall nodded and then pointed out more cans of paint before she left them to their own devices. Kaimana got comfortable in the center of the room and asked Furor to bring the can of paint to her. She really didn’t want to cover her skin and her pale markings, but she also didn’t want to be left behind. When the can of black paint was placed in front of her, she begrudgingly started to smear the thick liquid on her face.

Furor sensed out more cans of paint and brought them over to Kaimana.

“I won’t need all of this.” Kaimana spat.

“I know, but I’m going to need help.” Furor rolled her eyes, “I have white patches to cover too.”

Kaimana looked at her younger sister. She agreed to help before she went back to covering her limbs and tail in black paint.

Cheiro was in another corner of the room using her extra limbs to her advantage. With her four arms, she efficiently stuffed the bags with stink bugs. She had a bag in two hands and with her other two hands, she shoveled bugs in. She wasn’t paying attention to her sisters painting each other with dark paint a few paces from her. She remained focused on her task until a cold wet substance was smeared across her face.

Jolted out of her state of concentration she gasped, “What?!”

Furor giggled, “We have to cover the white on your face.”

Cheiro focused on her younger sister, feeling the bugs wiggle in her claws, she said, “I could use my magic to cloak us.”

“WHAT!?” Kaimana growled from where she sat dripping in black paint. She was covered head to wing tip in a slimy black colour. Cheiro looked at Kaimana and then doubled over in laughter, releasing the bugs in her grasp.

“Why didn’t you say anything?” Kaimana growled and started to move over to where Cheiro and Furor were. Her eyes flashed brightly to reflect her anger.

“Now, Kai-” Furor tried to calm her sister down, but Kaimana’s eyes rippled as she knocked Furor out of the way making it clear she wasn’t listening.

Cheiro composed herself as she cleaned up the bags and bugs and said, “I figured you would have known.”

Kaimana felt the runes on her body pull away and wrap around Cheiro’s body like a rope trying to tie her down. Cheiro’s growl in response sounded unearthly, but before she could aggravate the situation more, Troall appeared.

“Amazing!” Troall exclaimed, “There are so many bug bags ready and you two look fantastic in the dark paint.”

Kaimana’s runes snapped back to her body with Troall’s intrusion, but her fiery eyes stayed on Cheiro. Furor moved towards Troall as she said, “Happy to help!”

“I think we’re ready to head towards the next clan.” Troall clapped her hands together before asking the sisters to gather everything in the central area of the clan.
