Keepers #1.1
The area around him was silent as Denahi made his way towards a new territory. The vayron wasn’t quite sure what to expect aside from knowing that the clan lives in the walls of the cavern. He was alert as he made his way through the dimly lit caverns deep below Vitalus’ surface.
After some time the vayron finally spotted some haedians standing nearby. They spotted him immediately and didn’t seem surprised to see him as some of the other clans had. “We’ve heard rumors that reoseans from above have come into our caves. Come, our leader will be eager to meet you.” One of the haeidans said as he stepped forward. With a nod to the other guard the tyrian turned and began to head towards the walls of the cavern.
Now that Denahi was closer he could see spirals in the side of the cave walls where the haedians were storing various scrolls and crystals. He could see some of them reading while others seemed to be intrigued by his presence. “It’s been a long time since we’ve had someone from above come into our cavern. There is much we can learn.” The tyrian said as he led Denahi into one of the spirals.
“Yeah. Sure.” Denahi said rather gruffly. He wasn’t exactly interested in swapping stories with these tyrians. Soon enough the guard stopped in front of a room as he turned towards Denahi.
“Khaldor is waiting for you.” He said as he dipped his head and Denahi entered the room. In the center sat a green and gold haedian with clipped ears and a long sprout tail. Khaldor looked up and seemed excited as they spotted Denahi.
“At last you’ve made it to our clan!” They exclaimed as they stepped forward and examined Denahi. The vayron took a step back and let out a low growl. He didn’t care who this tyrian was and wouldn’t stand to be stared at. “My apologies. I’ve never actually met one of your kind.” Khaldor said as they began to back away.
“Well your kind has been in these caves for centuries.” Denahi answered as he narrowed his eyes. Khaldor didn’t seem to pay any mind to the vayron’s remark as he ruffled through some nearby scrolls until they pulled one out.
“Now if you want to be amongst our clan you’re going to have to share some knowledge with me.” The tyrian explained as they grabbed a nearby quill and looked eagerly at the reosean.
“What kind of knowledge?” Denahi questioned.
“Oh there’s so much I could learn from you. The matriarch has told me very little about the world above. What I do know I haven’t been able to share with my clan. Everyone was excited to learn of your arrival in the caves.” Khaldor explained and Denahi felt a little uneasy. Even if the tyrian seemed to have good intentions they sure was interested in this whole knowledge business.
“Well… I’m no scholar myself.” Denahi sighed as he seemed to think for a few moments. “I could tell you about the continents. I traveled all over them when the empyrean decided to show up.”
“Although our kinds don’t always see eye to eye I must admit I’m jealous that they have seen so much of the world above. I, however, have never left these caverns and the outside world seems rather daunting.” The haedian said as they then waited for Denahi to share his knowledge.
Denahi let out another sigh as he began to tell Khaldor all about the four continents. He told the them all about the climates, biomes, and weather that made each of the continents unique. The tyrian listened eagerly the entire time, jotting notes down on the scroll as Denahi talked. When the vayron was finally finished Khaldor looked amazed as they flipped through the scroll pages he had written.
“Yes… Yes this knowledge will be very unique and useful for my clan. I’ll have to get to transcribing it onto crystals and stone right away. I knew the world above was vast and varied but this amazes me. There must be so many animals and plants on different continents.” Khaldor said excitedly as they looked back up at Denahi.
“Well I gave you the knowledge you asked for.” The red runner answered. He really didn’t want to spend even more time explaining his world to Khaldor.
“Of course. The knowledge you have given me was plenty to hold up your side of the deal. Now you will be welcome in our clan’s territory. At least for now. I must warn you, the rest of my clan will share the same curiosity about your presence.” Khaldor said as he got up and began to walk towards the entrance of the cavern.
“Yeah I noticed.” Denahi answered, his voice slightly annoyed as he too got up.
