Hunting and Magic [Keepers]

After the exhausting race, the three laceworks would rest. Being told some information about the Depthstriders as they did so. When they were well rested and even fed, Hiroshima, Paris and Cairn would get up to head to the next clan, a haedian guiding them there before stopping at the edge of the territory.

All they knew about this clan so far was that the Depthstriders found them boring. From their outpost back in the Watchers they couldn't see into this clan's territory well. Surely another outpost could have given them a better look at it. Maybe Saaikam did not place them there on purpose, not wanting to spoil the experience.

They would continue into the Keepers territory, leaving their guide’s side. The three made quick note of the carved out bookshelves that held not only books and scrolls but crystals as well.

“I wonder what the engravings say.” Paris would muse to her brother and niece.

“Could they be about the Matriarch perhaps?” Cairn would add out loud.

“Some probably do. They must know alot with the name of ‘Keepers’ and owning so many scrolls.” Hiro would answer the two girls questions with his observations.

As they had this discussion a green shiny haedian known as Khaldor would approach them. “More newcomers! Welcome! I welcome you into the Keepers territory!”

“Just like that?” Hiroshima would say with some amount of skepticism.

“Yep, just like that. All we ask is for some information about the topside world. Our information is rather limited and bias against you. So we want something from each of you. Whatever you'd like to share about the world above!” Khaldor would dip the quill in hand into some ink, getting some paper ready for their addition with anticipation in his eyes.

The three Laceworks would look at each other, silently asking each other who wanted to share something first.

Paris would soon step forward, “Well, I have plant magic. I can encourage plants to grow faster,  larger and even make bridges and such with living plants.” The Red female would demonstrate some of her magic by growing a patch of moss at their feet so that it would grow abnormally tall and grab onto a crystal that hung on the wall of the cave. Her companions watched along with Khaldor, the latter making notes on his paper about the display.

Cairn would decide to step up when it seemed like Paris had concluded her thoughts, “I'm an Arcanist, my magic can be used to levitate objects, or animate dead things. Do know that more advanced Arcanists can summon shields too, though I'm not fully at that level yet. Hoping to be there soon.” When she brought up dead things, Khalor would seem a bit concerned.

“Excuse me? Dead things? That seems odd.” He would comment as he wrote on his paper.

Cairn would tilt her head at the question, it felt normal for her to talk about and deal with. It hadn’t occurred to her that it would be a problem. “Uh yeah, but it's not like anything like you or me. Just small birds, it helps in hunts to get a birds eye view or to help draw a predator out. I'm sure if I could do bigger animals, I could help protect myself and others in battle or a hunt with a Zataro. Not quite there yet unfortunately.”

The Keepers leader would mark down some more notes before looking to Hiroshima, “Now finally we have you, what do you have to share?” He would ask with interest, curious what the quiet one had to say.

Both Cairn and Paris would give Hiroshima some quiet encouragement. The male would seem to think about it for a moment or two, “Well, I feel like discussing my magic isn't probably interesting. But my job above ground is as a hunter, I hunt prey of all sizes for those in cities and towns that cannot do so themselves. Usually smaller prey for the elderly, or bigger game for a family or festival.”

When he mentioned the festival he had the sudden realization that the three of them would be missing out on the fair happening above ground. Damn. Surely that had come and gone already with how long it felt they had been down here for. “In fact I think one should have just past back home. But no matter I'm sure another hunter or two picked up the slack. The guild we are all in in some manner or another usually does group hunts for large game. Like the Zataro my daughter mentioned, which have been a growing problem up above.”

“I see, I see.” Khalor would mutter as he wrote down some more with his quill. “Interesting.” He would seem to contimplate something for a few moments, “Wait here for a moment.”

When Khaldor left them too it the Cairn, Paris and Hiroshima would look at eachother puzzled. Questioning eachother about what the Keepers leader was up to. Though it would end up being him adding the scroll to the appropriate shelf.

Draw or Write your Reosean bringing information of the Topside to the leader of the Crystal Mind. This can be anything from illustratively describing the process of a water cycle, creating a system for transport across Vitalus’s island, or even using a display of magic to explain what you may think the Keepers would like to store into their libraries.
