Crafting Corals [Depthstrider]

0 Favorites ・ 0 Comments

With the depthstriders cave system more tiddy, Nasale, Sitka, and Osaka would put their cleaning sponges aside. Heading over to where a group of haedians were messing with corals and waterproof textiles. The group of vayrons would watch what they were doing for a bit, seeing them craft accessories and clothing from them. The haedian’s nimble fingers seemed to come in handy with this activity.

This would inspire the three to check out the crafts the haedians have done thus far. Each gathering materials of their own soon enough after. Nasale would grab mainly corals and metals, Sitka would grab corals and waterproof material, and Osaka would get a bit of everything.

Each settling down with their chosen materials near the group of haedians. Beginning their crafts shortly thereafter. Crafting was something the Laceworks did as a family with their dads and other siblings, so they had some experience with it. Just not with the corals as a material to craft with. Nasale wasn't used to the material either, though often crafted things from stuff found in a forest as a hobby. But she wouldn't seem too bothered by the material herself.

The fluffy puller would do her best to get the purple corals down to smaller sized pieces, poking holes through the center of each. Before moving on to doing the same to some of a blue color. Nasale would then put some of them on strings to make a necklace and bracelet. After that she would take some spare pieces to make a set of dangly earrings. Her larger paws making the crafting a bit difficult but she wouldn't let it stop her. Her natural high patience helped her greatly in fact.

Sitka would take the waterproof fabric and some thread making a cape of sorts out of it. Taking some string to fashion the coral into a decorative piece around the trim. Making a decorative clasp with the coral in addition. He figured having some attire that was waterproof would be beneficial in the future, regardless if it was within the clans or once they were above ground again. The runner would make quick work of every stitch, and managed just fine with the fabric.

Osaka would seem to stare at his materials for some time before he would go in to make something from them. It was hard for him to focus on the task at hand, but he knew he had to participate lest he upset the clan and ruin their efforts. So he would craft, the corals occasionally slipping through his toes as he tried to get a needle through them. But he would push through making a necklace if his own making, and trying to add some waterproof fabric in the mix. Going on to making some earrings as well as a sort of simple ‘raincoat’. Trying to keep himself distracted from the thoughts that troubled the runner.

Haedians from the clan would pause their own crafts to watch the vayrons work. Seeming rather impressed that they could work with the material at all with their clumsy looking paws. And when the three vayrons seemed finished, some haedians would even say a kind, “Good job” or even “Impressive!” in response to their hard work and the crafts that came from it. Some children would even dare touch some of it out of curiosity.

Sitka would smile and speak for the pair when he'd say a simple, “Thank you, that means alot coming from you all.” Nasale backed her mate's words up with a smile, and so would Osaka despite his downed mood, not wanting to bring everyone else's mood down too.

Some adult haedians would even insist on helping the three try on their newly made accessories. Wanting to see how they looked in their full glory. So each carton would agree to this in their own ways, letting the nimble fingers of the haedians gently clasp each necklace and the hood. When the haedians we're done helping them try on their accessories they would take a step back from them. Seeming to be filled with glee as they admired the craftsmanship.

“Wow, so pretty.” Would come from one, “You all look so great.” Another would chime in.

Nasale would blush some in response to their compliments, not seeming to know how to respond. Osaka would stay quiet himself, a soft smile however upon his lips. Though Sitka would speak for them all once more, “You all are too kind. Truly. But we are honored that you think so.”

Ornaax would at some point return from his races, coming over to admire all the crafts the haedians had done. Though would soon pause and peek up as he'd notice that the vayrons had joined in the fun, “Oh! Why look at that! You all look fabulous! I hope you enjoyed your stay?”

Nasale would giggle some, “We did, thank you. It's been such a pleasure dealing with such a welcoming clan.”

“It is something we take such pride in, and we are truly honored to have guests. The other clans don't seem to like us very much, what kill-joys they are!”

With that Ornaax would share some other things about the clan with them. Though after this another game of tag would soon break out, the depthstriders would get the three vayrons to participate this time. It seeming to please them heavily that they did.

part 3, Option 1:    After the joyful event of painting your body, you notice the fashion games haven't ended. As you walk up to a moss-covered table, you see a Haedian sorting through corals and textiles, combing them for proper clothing.
Draw or write your reosean attempting to join in on the Coral Crafting fun. They could be crafting a necklace out of glowing coral, or attempting to sew waterproof fabrics together. Or maybe your reosean is more likely to try something on than make it.
