[Gift] [8901] [9539] Tug 'o War
It wasn't Xun's first time at the fair. He remembered the last time he'd gotten into an eaten competition with another fella- and being along another Chaser as well. What was her name again? His head bounced a bit left and right as he tried to juggle his memory. Literally.
"What are you doing."
Another voice piped up beside him and it was then that Xun remembered he wasn't alone. He gasped and turned to the Reosean beside him, a Tyrian on the ground who seemed less than impressed at the runner's antics. Xun wasn't fazed. He was Aetherius, some importy schmorty figure of the Elysian Sentinels. It didn't matter much to Xun, but he'd found some friends and wanted to stay with them, so now he was being escorted to the fair as a way to make sure he wasn't deemed dangerous. Pffft, as if!
Xun beamed a big grin to the tyrian, and Aetherius pulled his lip up in some form of disgust, which once again didn't faze Xun at all as the runner lifted up his paws to continue walking towards the fair. What was he thinking about again?
Before he remembered, he saw a familiar face. A familiar stubby legs. A familiar... green coat.
"ZOMBEE!!"
He exclaimed loudly. Very loudly. The chaser in the distance turned around at his name and looked around before he saw Xun, basically gasping and pointing a paw at the runner. Aetherius in the background slowly brought the claw on his wing to his face. The two vayron ran towards each other and practically ran the other over, falling to the ground in laughter.
"What are you doing here?!"
"I'm here for the fair, duh!!!"
Zombee didn't skip a beat in replying, his paw against his chest in offense as if Xun could have thought of any other reason. The runner in return beamed a smile.
"Me too, me too!! What are you going to do first!"
"Well, I was looking at the Tug of War-- but I'm not quite sure if I can just enter into someone's group. Everyone's already paired for the most part."
The Chaser held his paw to his chin in thought, and Xun nodded solemly at the news- at least before he realised that HE was someone Zombee could pair with!
"What if we do it? I think it'd be fun! Lots of it!"
"HMM I suppose, yea! You're bigger than me, but I'm quite strong."
Aetherius raised an eyebrow in the back, looking down at the chaser. He was a... chaser, afterall. It wasn't like the size of him really gave much food for thought for his strength. Still, Xun pretty much gasped and nodded excitedly.
"Must I really follow you around tugging on a rope?"
"You could join as well!"
"I would rather di--"
"Let's go let's go!"
Zombee bumped his full body weight into Xun to get him to go- interrupting Aetherius in his lamenting. The vayrons both ran through the fair, with the tyrian struggling to follow without flying over the entire celebration. It was generally frowned upon to fly overhead someone this closely, so he wasn't attempting it to not bring any bad press to the Elysian guild. Thankfully, it wasn't too far of a trip until the two reoseans encountered the Tug of War booth, a large rope laid on the ground as the game master waved his arms to encourage people to step forwards.
Aetherius had to step in and speak to the man as Xun and Zombee went straight for the rope without even giving the man any thought. The man was understanding of the excitement, and reassured Aetherius that there was nothing off about the encounter, and walked over to the two vayron.
"Alright lads. I'm going to attach a flag onto the middle of the rope. Whoever brings the flag over their line wins. Or whoever is left holding onto the rope- whichever comes first!"
He pulled a whistle from around his neck to his mouth and blew on it. Immediately the two vayron started struggling and pulling, their paws digging into the dirt and using their whole body to put force behind their tugging. It seemed to last for a long time as the two of them went at it, obvious cries of struggle as then Xun pulled the flag closer, and then Zombee made a return with his seemingly super-reosean strength. And then it was back to Xun-- even the people that had gathered along the way had already started to disperse, as if bored by the lack of winning or losing.
The line to participate was getting longer and longer as well, and with Aetherius stood to the side he could see the other fairgoers side eye the competition, yelling and encouraging either one of them so they could hurry up. Eventually, the tyrian stepped in and bit the middle of the rope, tugging hard and up- strong enough to end up lifting both of the vayron into the air.
"And with that, Aetherius is the last Reosean standing! He wins!"
The game master finally exclaimed, and both Xun and Zombee cried out in disbelief, in shock, in sadness.
