Brutes Clan: Sisters 1

Cheiro landed roughly as she dropped from the ceiling. Dirt puffed around her in a cloud blocking her sisters' view. Kaimana dramatically coughed and pushed Cheiro’s wings aside to look at the busy clan of Haedians. Furor followed Kaimana’s actions, but in a much less dramatic fashion.

“Didn’t take as long to get here as I thought.” Cheiro wondered aloud.

“That’s because you were moving as your shadow…” Kaimana grumbled in response, but Furor scoffed.

“As if you can complain… You have your ghost…” Furor snapped and huffed, “I’m exhausted trying to keep up with you both.

Cheiro gave her youngest sister a cheeky smile, but before she could antagonize either of them more a Haedian landed in front of them.

“You three look like you could give us a run for our money!” The loud haedian exclaimed and rushed into her next order, “Come, join our competition!”

The sisters all looked at each other, none of them were accustomed to taking orders, but they all liked a good competition. The three followed the black and red Haedian nobody had introduced themselves, but they all seemed content with the anonymity. That being said, as the group walked further into the clan’s territory it was easy to determine their guide’s identity. Many Haedians approached their guide for answers to questions and they did so with respect. All three Sisters felt it was safe to assume this was Zarod.

Suddenly the haedian whipped around and extended her wings dramatically, “It starts right here.”

The empyrians looked around noticing the large groups of haedians that gathered to hear the rules. Their guide quickly explained the rules. Around the area, this centered area they were in, golden nuggets were hidden. The object of the competition was to collect as many nuggets as possible before the time runs out.

Cheiro sat tall and started to survey the area for any spots that looked like they had been dug up. Furor eyed the haedians preparing for a scrappy fight to break out over the nuggets. Kaimana smirked and crouched to get ready to launch into action.

The haedian in the center looked around the crowd and counted down.

When Cheiro and Kaimana heard the word ‘go’, they exchanged a look before disappearing into their respective ambiguous forms. Cheiro’s, to most, looked like a dark cloud, but to some it looks like a shadow of their fear. Kaimana’s form wasn’t quite as mysterious, she turned into a lighter more translucent version of herself. She looked like a ghost as many described her.

Each flew towards their own goal and Furor watched. She could create storms but didn’t have the power to manipulate her body, so she used her physical strength. It hadn’t quite been a minute yet and Furor could see some haedians had already accumulated small piles. She analyzed a couple of Haedians to try to figure out which would be easiest to take down.

When she made her choice, she lept into action. She was all teeth and claws, but she found her opponent had an advantage with their additional toes and hands/feet. Dirt kicked up in the fight and if Furor hadn’t grown up with Kaimana she might have missed her. As the fight raged, Kaimana swept in to steal the nuggets with Furor had the haedian distracted.

Cheiro easily bounced from shadow to shadow, with each shadow that was close to piles of nuggets she stole some unnoticed. She didn’t get too greedy, she would only steal one or two and then move on to the next. She didn’t notice Kaimana and Furor with their own plans.

Furor grappled with the haedian feeling more enraged just from seeing her sister stealing the nuggets she had wanted. Furor flipped the haedian hard on their back and then quickly directed her fury on to Kaimana. Furor launched at Kaimana, but she materialized into her ghost form.

With her new form, her voice shifted to some more ethereal, “Quickly, Furor, time is almost up.” Kaimana mocked.

Furor growled, but knew she was no match and looked to find another target. Cheiro appeared at her side the next moment and faded out of the shadows with a mountain of nuggets.

“Here.” Cheiro dropped a random amount of nuggets near Furor.

“I don’t want your charity.” Furor growled, but Cheiro just shrugged.

“I figured we’d team up for this,” Cheiro looked around the arena. Some reoseans were really hurt, while others looked like they were using less direct methods and coming out unharmed.

Another haedian eyed the pile between Cheiro and Furor. Both sisters caught the look and as the haedian charged them, Cheiro slipped into the shadows aftering whispering, “guard the pile.”

Furor was more than happy to take out her frustration on the haedian and it was clear this haedian hadn’t expected the strength Furor had. Any open the haedian saw they tried to withdraw from the fight, but Furor wouldn’t let them.

Kaimana had a similar plan as Cheiro, but she didn’t have anyone to guard her loot. Every time she moved away to get more she risked someone stealing from her. She was trying to hide her pile, but she was bright white in a dark space. It was easy for her to stick out. However, as Kaimana heard the warning that the time was nearing the end she saw Furor grappling with another haedian.

Kaimana smiled to herself and slipped into her ghost as she raced to the pile of unattended gold. Unfortunately, Kaimana was so locked in on the pile that she failed to notice Cheiro flying at her. With a heavy hit, Kaimana was knocked out of her ghostly shape and held to the ground.

“You wouldn’t dare.” Cheiro held her sister to the ground with vicious strength. Even when the Haedian in charge declared it was the end, Cheiro still held her down.

“Cheiro,” Furor nudged her older sister, “it’s over.”

Cheiro’s glowing red eyes faded and with a shake of her head she released Kaimana. Kaimana hissed at her sister, but straightened up and then the three sisters focused their attention on the Haedian in the center.
