[Trade] Cave Expedition
The whipping winds of Roenden surrounded the two Vayrons who ducked down into the soft fur of the Tyrian they were currently hitching a ride on, swiftly drifting over snowcovered fields the trio could count themselves lucky that flying was currently safe thanks to an absence of falling snow and whipping winds. Cappuccino the Tyrian with his warm brown coat had told them before that if strong winds would start to blow that he would immediately land whereever they were. He didn't want to risk injury as snow liked to cling to him thanks to his longer fur and that coupled with dangerous heights could make for a volatile combination.
Men knew this, the colorful and faintly glowing runner who as they were glancing down, dared to imagine making this trek on foot for a split second. As his glance shifted to the other passenger on this flight his eyes laid upon a white chaser, whose pelt had small bits of a desaturated blue shine through. The book that was secured to her hip had the runner curious, but not curious enough to ask the stranger questions about it. Even when they had introduced themself Men could tell that Valeria hadn't been entirely truthful, add the fact that they tended to be tightlipped beyond that point too and it was easy to see why Men elected to not interact with Valeria too much. The journey was quiet, though that was not unwelcome, rather it was easier for the group to appreciate the view that way and prepare mentally for their task at hand.
"We should be there soon, the cave isnt too far from here." a quieter 'i hope' was added to the end of Cappuccinos sentence as he had turned his head away again from his passengers.
Truth be told everything below him tended to look the same covered in thick snow, sure there were pine forests, evergreen needles poking out of the snow, mountains, frozen lakes and valleys, but finding a cave opening that might have also been partially snowed in- it all seemed like a search for a needle in a haystack. Yet Cappuccino kept his troubles close to his chest, wanting to rather keep his travelling companions in the mind that he knew where they were going.
"There!" the sudden exclaim was loud enough that it carried over the sound of the tyrians wings cutting through the winds. It even made Rivule turn around to look at Men who was pointing down at something on the ground over the tyrians shoulder.
Following his line of sight Cappuccino spotted the smallest little speck of black down below. The cave opening- he hoped or rather that was his best guess.
"Got it! Thank you!" said Cappuccino, quickly circling above. "Hold on, we are landing!" he dove down, taking the descent slow but steady. After all the two reoseans had told him that this would be their first time flying and he didn't want to frighten them. He was used to heights yes- they weren't and whilst Men said he didnt have issues with heights Cappuccino still insisted on wanting to take it slow regardless.
Soon solid ground was beneath the trios feet again after a slow and steady descent, the crunch of snow accompanying them as they treked through what felt like an endless expanse of white. The cave offered temporary salvation from the assault of white to the senses so the three went inside quickly and eagerly lighting a torch to provide light and warm their cold paws around.
The dancing flicker of the flame burning on the torch illuminated the cave that opened up deeper into the mountainside before the reoseans. blocks of ice, and frozen over stalagmites came into view that made it look like they were staring down a frozen-over maw full of sharp teeth. Men took the map from out of their satchel, unfurled it and studied it in the glow of the torchlight.
Rivule glanced curiously at the runner, electing to speak up,
"You think this is the cave?" it netted her a look from Men as if to ask her to give him a moment, "Its what im trying to figure out. But I think- It should be. The location matches and whilst this- looks a bit different to what I expected it could also just be from the ice."
A rolled up sketch was retrieved from alongside the map and presented to Rivule and Cappuccino, what the runner had said was true, the map and sketch seemed to be of this cave which made what followed all the easier.
"Onwards then." said Rivule, grabbing the torch out of Cappuccinos grasp. She didnt wait for the two to say they were ready, no she carried on, curiosity getting the better of her.
Cappuccino looked at Men, then nodded at Rivule as if to implore the runner to follow her.
Men nodded in response and set off after Rivule with Cappuccino following closely behind.
"Remind me again." The voice reached Men from behind him,
"What are we looking for again?"
Men smirked, consodering his response.
"We mostly want to follow up on some rumors." said Men and this sufficed for Cappuccino to jog his memory. "Right the treasure rumor." He said, pensively scanning the cave walls as they descended deeper into it.
The tunnel opened up into a larger chamber, seperated by a dangerous looking chasm that would be a deadly drop for any creature not capable of flying the rift too large to jump across it. At the opposite side of the chasm another tunnel beckoned the trio deeper into the cave system, promising treasure.
Rivule glanced back at Cappuccino gauging how safe it would be to fly in such a low light environment, the only sources of light currently the torch held in her maw and Mens softly glowing markings.
The tyrian gave her a half-confident smile in response, making the chaser groan. This wouldn‘t be where their expedition ended, and she‘d make sure of that.
